What's Different About Teaching Mature Adults?

Te be effective with teaching adults, mature adults, its important to know your target audience. Its critical to have a general understanding of how adults, mature adults, learn. The sessions we offer are relevant, welcoming, engaging, respectful and provide valuable usable content. To best reach adults there are five key factors we focus on in the development of our sessions, workshops, classes and training.

  1. The material presented is relevant to adult learners' lives.
  2. The material presented has immediate usefulness to the learners.
  3. The training environment is welcoming so learners of any age will feel comfortable and safe to be involved, will want to contribute and feel confident to participate.
  4. The training presentations are engaging using Power Point presentation and many relevant illustrative and resourceful materials.
  5. The training is presented in a respectful manner where learners have an opportunity to share their life experiences.


These face to face sessions are filled with case studies, role playing and small discussion groups where content and activities are appropriate for each course are tied directly to  the  learning needs and objectives defined. To be most effective the sessions have been tailored to the specific age appropriateness of the audience. We address three types of learning;

  1. Knowledge: specific facts, patterns, concepts
  2. Attitudes: realizing feelings, values, motivation
  3. Skills: practical abilities measured in speed, precision and demonstration
